Butler ArtsFest 2014—Fables, Fairy Tales, and Physics

Fairy Tales can be light and frothy, but they can also be grim. Or Grimm. Butler ArtsFest 2014 will showcase both ends of the spectrum—and lots in the middle.

Themed Fables, Fairy Tales, and Physics, Butler ArtsFest 2014 will span 11 days (plus an encore weekend), and feature classical music, jazz, and gospel; ballet, modern dance, and aerials; theatre; visual arts; and free community and children’s events, lectures, and discussions.

From April 3-13, with an encore weekend April 25-27, audiences will enjoy the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Institute of Quantum Computing presenting “Quantum: Music at the Frontier of Science,” Butler Ballet’s performance of Cinderella, Blind Boys of Alabama, and Haydn’s science-fiction operatic comedy, The World on the Moon performed in Butler’s Holcomb Observatory.

Other performances include Angela Brown and the Butler Symphony Orchestra presenting highlights from Porgy and Bess, Dance Kaleidoscope mounting Mother Goose Suite and other works, jazz saxophonist Donny McCaslin, and award-winning storyteller Deborah Asante performing with Cirque du Soleil aerialist Tavi Stutz.

We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these performances.
