He woke me up at 4am!<\/p>\n<p>It was time to hit the road. The <a title=\"Butler Big Dawgs Tour\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\">Big Dawgs Tour<\/a> is finally underway.<\/p>\n<p>So he loaded Butler Blue III (Trip) and I up, we picked up our colleague Tom Otero (<a title=\"Tom Otero on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/lockebyproxy\" target=\"_blank\">@lockebyproxy<\/a>) and before I knew it, the Built Ford Tough Blue Mobile had taken us from Indy to our first destination: Louisville, Ky.<\/p>\n<h3>Lynn&#8217;s Paradise Cafe<\/h3>\n<p>With such an early\u00a0departure\u00a0 there was a lot of stomach growling by the time we got to Louisville, so as soon as we hit the Kentucky border, we made a stop at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lynnsparadisecafe.com\/\">Lynn&#8217;s Paradise Cafe<\/a>. Opening in 1991, Lynn&#8217;s Paradise Cafe has been showered with almost as many accolades as me, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esquire.com\/\">Esquire Magazine<\/a>&#8216;s &#8220;One of the Four Most Fun Restaurants in America&#8221; as well as being featured in articles from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southernliving.com\/\">Southern Living<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/\">USA Today<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/\">The New York Times<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/\">Bon Appetit<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/\">The Atlantic Monthly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also been featured on &#8220;Best of&#8221; on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/\">Food Network<\/a>, CBS&#8217;s &#8220;Travels with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biography.com\/people\/harry-smith-9542288\">Harry<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oprah.com\/oprah_show.html\">The Oprah Show<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you go to Louisville and pass up a chance to eat at Lynn&#8217;s, then I&#8217;m not sure how you can live with yourself. Go there!<\/p>\n<h3>WHAS Great Day Live<\/h3>\n<p>Our next stop was at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whas11.com\/\">WHAS Channel 11<\/a>\u00a0for their fun morning show,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whas11.com\/great-day-live\">Great Day Live<\/a>. Great hosts, got in a dig at IU, and afterwards, we were stopped multiple times on the streets of Louisville by those who had seen us on the show that morning. They loved it!<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and wouldn&#8217;t you know it, the University of Louisville Cardinal was in the studio to preview their big game with the Kentucky Wildcats, so of course, we made sure to grab a little photo with him. Nice little birdy, that Louie.<\/p>\n<h3>Louisville Slugger<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sluggermuseum.com\/\">Louisville Slugger Museum<\/a> was the highlight of our stop in Louisville and thus, merits its own post. You can read that post very soon!<\/p>\n<h3>Churchill Downs<\/h3>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_1365\" style=\"width: 190px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/files\/2013\/01\/IMG_0808.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1365\" class=\" wp-image-1365\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/files\/2013\/01\/IMG_0808-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/files\/2013\/01\/IMG_0808-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/files\/2013\/01\/IMG_0808-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/butler-blue\/files\/2013\/01\/IMG_0808-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1365\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Law Firm of Blue, Blue &amp; Barbaro<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p>After the Slugger Museum, we decided to pay our respects to another famous animal, Barbaro, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.churchilldowns.com\/\">Churchill Downs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You may remember Barbaro and his decisive Kentucky Derby victory in 2006, only to be followed by a nasty leg-break in the following race, thus ruining his chance of a likely Triple Crown.<\/p>\n<p>Broken leg or not, Barbaro had already captured the hearts of America, a little something I know about now in my old age as well. Rest in peace, Barbaro. You&#8217;ve earned it.<\/p>\n<p>And with that, we were back on I-65 and pointed south for Nashville. Oh, so much more we could&#8217;ve done had we more time to kill in Louisville, but we&#8217;ll have to save that for another visit.<\/p>\n<p>Our thanks to those who showed us such great hospitality in Louisville.
