The game was tight, with several lead changes and tense moments that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the end.

Kilyn McGuff was the star in Butler’s win, scoring 21 points. She was almost perfect in shooting, especially with five out of six three-pointers. She stayed calm under pressure, not missing any free throws.

Sydney Jaynes also played a big role, grabbing a team-high six rebounds and scoring the winning basket. She contributed 10 points and made a key block that disrupted Marquette’s attack. Lily Zeinstra added 15 points, strengthening Butler’s offense.

Butler’s defense was strong, with seven steals that kept Marquette on their toes. Their smart play focused on shooting from distance, and they made 47.8% of their three-point attempts, sinking 11 out of 23 shots. Marquette struggled here, hitting only 30.8%.

Skylar Forbes led Marquette with 14 points, but Butler’s defense proved tough. Even though Marquette had a slightly lower overall field goal percentage (48.0% vs. Butler’s 48.9%), they couldn’t surpass Butler, who excelled in three-point shooting.

This win boosted Butler’s season and gave them more confidence as they look forward to facing Georgetown. With this victory, Butler is ready to take on a three-game road challenge, starting in Washington, D.C.

Butler’s women’s basketball team clinched an exciting 67-65 win over Marquette on February 9th at Hinkle Fieldhouse, halting a tough six-game losing streak in front of alumni celebrating the legacy of the Butler women’s basketball.
