The Butler Bulldogs wrapped up their indoor track and field season with a strong showing at the Big East Conference Championships in Chicago last weekend. Despite competing with a smaller squad, the Dawgs delivered standout performances, achieving multiple personal bests and setting two new school records in the women\u2019s 4x800m and 4x400m relays.<\/p>\n

The women\u2019s team finished eighth out of ten teams, a placement that doesn\u2019t reflect the grit and determination they displayed. The 4x400m relay team\u2014comprising Jocelyn Davis, Jenna Doezma, Clara Reynolds, and Abby Brennan\u2014 defeated the previous school record set in 2020, clocking an impressive 3:46.91. Meanwhile , the 4x800m squad of Renate Toledo, Allie Minier, Camille El Baghouli, and Ashley Learn also rewrote Butler history, besting the previous program-best mark from 2020 with a time of 8:48.<\/p>\n

Individually, several Bulldogs achieved lifetime bests. Abby Brennan secured a double PR in both the preliminary and final rounds of the 400m, ultimately finishing seventh with a time of 56.01 and contributing two points to the team\u2019s total. Jocelyn Davis (200m, 24.85) and Jade Cadichon (60m, 7.87) also posted personal bests, narrowly missing qualification for their respective finals. Additionally, Lily Wharton excelled in the pentathlon, setting a new personal record with 2,983 points and placing fifth overall.<\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, the Bulldogs secured a sixth-place team finish with several noteworthy performances. In the 5,000m, Butler had three runners place in the top eight\u2014Matthew Forrester claimed second, Jack McMahon finished fifth, and Luke Henseler secured seventh. Meanwhile, Luke Walden led the way in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.95m.<\/p>\n

With these strong performances closing out the indoor season, the Bulldogs now shift their focus to the outdoor campaign. They will kick off their spring competition at the Blizzard Buster hosted by Miami University on March 21st, ready to build on their momentum and achieve even greater success.<\/p>\n
