Bethanie Danko Biography
President Danko’s wife, Bethanie Danko, has been a professional higher-education writer, editor, and researcher for nearly a decade. Her university writing has centered on strategic planning, marketing, issues management, development, rankings, and magazine and web content.
Prior to her career in higher-education writing, Bethanie taught English both domestically and abroad. In the US, she taught ESL and GED preparation as part of a community education program for adults. Outside the US, she volunteered full time at a college in south-central Poland under the auspices of the Harvard Center for International Development.
Bethanie is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at Chatham University (2012). Her primary genre is fiction; she also works in the areas of creative nonfiction and poetry.
Having grown up in rural Vermont, Bethanie is fond of nature, wildlife, pets of every kind, and snowy winters. She is a fiber artist specializing in yarn spinning, crochet, and quilting. She is also an avid reader of mystery novels.
Bethanie and Jim Danko enjoy spending their free time attending student games, events, and performances; visiting with Jim’s two daughters, Melanie and Meredith; going to the movies; and traveling to see family members throughout New England and Ohio. They also enjoy vacationing on the North Carolina coast with their rescue dog, a mini-Schnoodle named Zooey.
