Radio Theater Project

CME106 Radio Theatre_2_mixdown

After the midterm, we moved on from working with basic pictures and graphics to sound and visual media. This was the first project in that category. We completed it using Adobe Audition, with my partner Mallory Duncan and I recording ourselves reading a script. We found the background music on Youtube and the sound effects on Audition, and we brought everything together to form what you can listen to above.

We were both really excited about how this turned out. It’s a pretty intense bit of radio broadcasting, honestly.

Yes, even more dramatic than that.

This project cannot be viewed, actually. Volkswagon doesn’t like students using video that involves its product in order to learn something. Duly noted.

This project actually came before the radio theater. Mallory and I worked together on this one as well, and we turned this commercial into something awesome. In our own opinions, of course. The original commercial is below:

Now imagine it souped up with the Star Wars theme song, Darth Vader’s theme, Luke Skywalker’s theme and the cantina music from Episode IV.

She may be what awesome LOOKS like, but what I have described above is definitely what awesome SOUNDS like.

This project is not nearly as entertaining as the previous two. It served as an in-class assignment that I worked on with Mallory and our new partner, Rebecca Stewart. We had some minor hiccups along the way, but we were able to get it done before the end of class.

We started with three different camera views shooting the same interview, and they all came with their own audios. We had to sync everything up and cut the unnecessary parts to make the interview flow smoothly and properly.

While this was helpful for us as far as working on our next project went, the woman this A.C. Slater look-alike was talking to…

The hippo probably would’ve eaten her.

The Solar Power video project set Mallory, Becca and I up for our final group project: the 30-second commercial. We had to come up with some sort of commercial that lasted no more than 30 seconds, shooting all of the video and doing all of the voice-over work along the way. We used Adobe Premiere for this, as we did the Solar Power project.

We settled on the idea of a campaign commercial. I was pretending to run for our school’s Student Government Association presidency. We shot video to go along with my campaign platform and received a ridiculously-awesome endorsement from one of my professors, resulting in the video you see above.

For those of you unaware of what Hinkle Fieldhouse is, here’s a picture:

It was built back in the 1920s. As a result, I must be this man:
