Partnerships Make a Difference for Kids

The COE is really passionate about creating and maintaining meaningful partnerships that help us affect the community positively.  We have school partnerships with Shortridge Magnet High School, Pike Township and of course, the Lab School.  Additionally, our Masters in Counseling program has a partnership with Brooke’s Place for Grieving Children and Families.  Through this partnership, graduate counseling students take a training series on working with grieving children and families and facilitate groups at  Brooke’s Place as a part of their graduate training.  This partnership is an invaluable experience for our students and a tried and true way for Brooke’s Place to have qualified, compassionate facilitators volunteer for their organization and serve the community.  Recently, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis posted a story about a COE alum from the counseling program, Stephanie Theis, and how she uses the training she received from Brooke’s Place and the counseling program with her students.  Stephanie still volunteers at Brooke’s Place, and has for the last nine years.  This article is a great testament to the power of partnerships for our students and families in the community.
