What I Do Remember
I do remember me and my sister on our porch, having a lot of fun, laughing and playing. I do remember when I went to the store with my mom, sister, and grandmother. Then coming back home and seeing my step-grandfather lying dead. I was 8 years old. This is something that I won’t forget from my childhood. I most definitely remember spending a night at the hospital on a school night with my grandmother while she was sick with a liver problem. Then I remember getting a phone call saying my grandmother had passed. This is what I do remember.
What I Want to Remember
I want to remember when I first walked, cried, sung. My first friend. I won’t remember everything, and, to me, it’s not about sharing memories with my friends—it’s about knowing who I am. I want to know how much I’ve grown in 15 years.
