  • RENDEZVOUS WITH HAPPINESS

    by ISIAH

    Glistening in the dark,
    the fragrance in the air,
the chants of protestors as people become aware.
    Problems at their pinnacle,
    creak tremulous souls,
which gives power to the majestic
in hopes of enchanting mercy on those who atoned.
To all the hate and no grace in their lives,
in a rendezvous with happiness, completion is a chime.
    No one is the same,
    no funeral of these days.
No Satan to these days, unless you change your ways.
    So…
Don’t risk that bird in one hand for the two in the bush.
For greatness is a vision but happiness is a must.

  • DROP ZONE

    by A.J.

I sit down and strap in,
All I can think is that I cant wait for this to end.
The carnie tells me, “Keep your hands and feet inside at all times.”

I see all the kids waiting in lines.
Not one looks the least bit terrified.
But me? I’m thinking…I’m out of my freakin’ mind.
I look to my right and see Jeremiah lookin’ hard as can be,
but for some reason, he cant stop shakin’ his knees.

    ERRRRR! The right starts up.
Suddently, I feel as though I might throw up.
We started ascending and my feet lifted off the ground.
We start to pass the Ferris Wheel goin’ round and round.

As we reach the end of our journey all the way up,
I’m feelin’ breathless from the waist up.
It felt like something inside me was gonna erupt.
For a moment…there was no gravity.

I could see the whole city.
    Everything stopped.
I could feel my heard beat.
    Then, it began…

We go down at a speed you couldn’t imagine
I scream the whole way down.
Everyone could hear me, even in the town.
Once I got to the bottom, I thanked God that he let me live <3
I will never ride the “Drop Zone” again.
Now I have more life to give.

  • FIVE SENSES

    by WENDY

    You hear something weird.
You see something weird pass by.
    You feel scared and weird.

    You’re out and its chilly.
    You’re silly seeing shadows.
    You see a shadow.

    It’s dark and chilly.
You lay and see the moonlight.
    It’s a weird feeling.

    The sun hits your face
    Recognizing the shadow
    Him! Then you smile.

  • ON LOVE

    by ALYSSA

    Love
is a joke to be told
    amongst elder souls.
A joke not probably understood by adolescence.

    Love
    is a painful excuse
    for lust to spread profusely
    amongst youth
    to be creating premature pregnancy.

    Love
    is something intangible to me:
    It’s something I feel,
    but something foreign.

    Love
    is a painful reminder
    that no one understands
    the true heart grinder.

    Love
is what I thought I felt for father
    until he crushed my trust
    and denied mom’s proffer.

    Love
is what I thought I felt before,
until I couldn’t take it anymore,
and love met his cousin death.

    Love
is what I think I feel now,
but I don’t trust myself or him
because Love is a cruel miser
I’m afraid to deal with again.

    Love
    is a shameful,
    joking feeling
    that tears us apart
    while pulling us closer.

  • CRY OF THE MOON

    by JADON

The cry of the moon calls to me again.
The face of the sun appears to me as a friend.

The fang of anguish pierces my soul.
The star of hope fills the hole.

    Shadows fall once more.
And a spear of light is born.

Your cancer is bringing me tears.
The cry of the moon shares its fear.
