  • WATCHED

    by KEITH

With everyone’s eyes on you, what can you do?
Every corner like vultures waiting on you,
    waiting for you to fail,
waiting for you to rebuttal so you may be
    cleansed.

Purified of common sense, the conscious
    mind eradicated,
the lens condenses as melting ice zooming in
    closely.
To the degree of an atom on your behavior,
making you exposed, as a newborn dropped
    into the safari desert.

Being confined by the eyes of the country,
though not confined by the wall of a building.
Protecting our laws that free us with walls,
Speaking of a civil and peaceful world through
having the eye of a tyrant in the form of a
    camera lens.

  • BICYCLE RIDES

    by VANESSA

    Bicycle rides to the park
Warm windy feeling as I stroll along
Watching Batman movies all day long
    Family dinners every night
    Watching soccer games during
    Midnight
    Hanging out with friends
    Thinking about my crush
    Summer fireflies
    Hiking through forest

  • HOW I TRY TO HATE YOU

    by EMILY

I hate how much I love you & I love how much I hate you.

At night you make me smile & cry. In the morning you make me get out of bed & bring me down the rest of the day.

I want you to stay & leave at the same time. I want to look at you while waiting to forget you were even there.

I want us to be together & I want you to do something to make me hate you.

I love you & I can’t stand it. I want you to notice my existence & I want to ignore yours.

I want you to feel how I feel & not be able to do anything about it!

  • MY BEST FRIEND

    by AUSTIN

A sweet girl in a lonely world.
She keeps me warm like no one else. For she’s my best friend,
    She fills the spot.
If I lose her, I won’t replace her Cause she one of a kind.
    Yeah we’re weird,
    But I don’t care.
She’s the best of the best, like no one else.
And that, is exactly how I want it…

  • NEXT YEAR

    by ELYZABETH

There’s so many people every inch, every step you take the adrenaline will race. The lights so bright you squib your eyes shut. You hear the crowd of the fans scream your name. You count the steps you take as you watch the box of people judging you on every step, every move you make as sweat is rolling down your neck.

The pace goes from fast to slow, and then back to fast. When it’s all over you are relieved yet sad.

And now comes the greatest part of all. They start naming awards four, three, two and now comes first place. We stand there with pride until we all get together and celebrate…the greatest day we’ve had yet. Can’t wait for next year.
