  • ELEMENTAL SPELL

    by KYLA

    ONE:
From the heavens to the waters, let this be known,
That man will come together with the marine
    To create a sacred zodiac,
    The mermaid.

    TWO:
Let Earth rise from the pit of dran
    And hence forth,
    A powerful being,
    The Titan.

    THREE:
    Take flight in the clouds
And proudly swirl in the dense weather.
    Watch the skies and behold
    The Flying Wildabeast.

    FOUR:
    Flamia, give your extreme flame,
    Which cleanses the heart.
    Make all fear it’s exposer.
    The ruler of lava,
    The Dragon.

  • THE KING OF AMERICA

    by STEVIE

Once upon a time far, far into the future, there will be a funky little boy who stole a Jordan shoe.  He just walked off with the one from the display rack in the store.  He was paranoid by every cop and cop car.  He almost got hit by a flying car while he was on his jetpack with the one shoe.  The one shoe would have no use for him in a chase on the ground, especially since it was not his size.  So Peter-Joe returned to the store to exchange the shoe, but the store clerk stopped him and asked for a receipt.  So he tried to leave the store and take it elsewhere.  But before he could leave, the clerk called the police and caught him.  “Say your prayers,” said Officer Stone as he dragged him away.  The King of America ruled “off with his head” while wearing both Jordan shoes.

  • A MAGIC SPELL

    by JASMINE

I thought it would be an easy task.
All I had to do was bake her a birthday cake.

Mix in 1 cup of dirt
    hmmm that can’t be right.
Well I guess I’ll keep going.

Mix in 2 tablespoons of swamp water
What is going on I know it’s not right.
The card says birthday cake recipe
    Well I’ll keep going.

Mix in pieces of frogs legs
Ok now this really ain’t right.
I may be rich but I know
    this isn’t right.

    Well I’ll mix it together
    and chant these words.

    Bip bop bop
    with these words
    I’ll make this cake pop

    With all my wealth
    and all these words
    I make this cake
    POP pop pop pop

Waking up to the sound of
    popping popcorn

I climb out of my box on this cold, hard ground
seeing that it was all a dream
wishing it was real I cry

One day the rich dream will be real
    minus that magic spell

  • RUSH HOUR

    by PAULA

    Typical, really
    Always looking for a north
South street on a one-way runway
Catalysts opening my way to the top
when it’s not like that at all
    creating something special
    out of an unquenchable
    inner circle
    an unquenchable empty room
    always open
    always a turnabout in
    rush hour
    and
when the smoke has cleared, breathe in
    the demoralizing prospect of
    a modicum of solace
    that
    all hope isn’t lost
    lying to yourself once again
    blackbird, fly.
    You took those broken wings
    glue, and
    mortar, and
    brick and all
and in the light of the dark,
    black night, your
    eyes shine
    so rise.

  • TWO ROADS

    by DEMONTE

    Two roads diverge
    in yellow wood
    I could not travel both
    And be one traveler
    long I look
down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
