  • SPLIT SECOND

    by ERIC

    A cultivated mind
Is ushered onto the wrong path and the steps backwards are fading
As the sand gets wet by the tears
    The dirt is stained
    Into the cracked pavement
Adolescents trip as they tries to chase it
    Nonstop into traffic
    As automobiles only graze them
The headlights lay on the horizon of there thoughts
But if the perspective for this time being was changing
to behind the front license plating
The thoughts of the driver as the direction of the car swerves, swaying
Speeding past the image of child
Because of the bad day and lost of patience
    Being laid off from income
Left the driver with clenched teeth
And now laid into hospital bed just waiting
For the medication to settle the pain
    From hitting a tree
    Loss of money and concentration
Is a small price to pay for the ability to not have to grieve
A split second is the difference between head-on injury

  • LET IT SCATTER

    by ERIC

    Eroding nature
    Staining slippery relentlessness.

    Blackening the skies
    Filled with intenseness
    Drops waltz through the atmosphere.

To erode nature morphing hills into trenches.

    Precipitation falls like tears
    Disaster summoned.

Sunny days turn into treachery all too sudden
Disowned by beauty that walks the streets
Like a witch betraying her coven.

    Clouded vision,

The windows deafened from the screech of sunlight
    The oceans drown
Floods carry the lights and wheels.

    The drizzles and drops
    Smother the rainbows prolonged
    Heaven lassos the clouds.

    Families hidden in transportation
    Shielded by wipers on automobiles
Forecast entwined like products of prophets.

    Storms bring desolation
Canary colored coats abandon the traces.

The stream from the abyss above collides with darkness
Contrasting the brightness with rogue enmity.

    Crippled minds
    Disregard umbrellas.

Devastation perforates the calm of the storm.

  • THE THOUGHTS THAT PROBE ME

    by ERIC

The thoughts government use to probe me
    Truth to unanswered questions
    But who asks the questions
If no one has the Cojones
    To approach Kony
    Who can scrutinize
    When a entreaty to caution
    Was never to scribed
    Land of the free
    Looks toward a place
    Where a eulogy is subsided
    Adolescence turned SOLDIER
    Dauntless youth
Grow prolific before they grow older
Having to grow up without parents
    Abducted and kept hostage
    But nobody told YOU
    Of this TYRANNY
    Secrets of the rushing waters
    That carry cargo of youth
    Is filled with IMPURITIES
    Of the unexplained truth
Invisible villains who remain in cahoots
    Disregarding captured fugitives young bodies
Who scoured the tract searching for REFUGE
    Adept clues
    Pointing to
    What actually happens
    Kony and his sinister practice
USA decides to remain not tangent
    To the subject
    That is a huge problem
    That should be handled
Don’t vilify if you can’t justify
As the world fights eye for an eye
The world is unable to apprehend because they are blind
So who can make a conclusion if
    You aren’t aware of the
    Crime
    Starvation
    Uneducated contamination
    Gun smoke pollution
    Adolescent prostitution
    An empire
And the person who grew it
The premature and people remain clueless

  • SCORCHED WAVES

    by ERIC

The asphalt drenched with the sun’s rays
Taking swigs of the fountain of youth to ease the outcome
    of which the wrinkles consist
But regurgitating the truth of the drought
Sun burns giving out like citations
    The people pleading for clouds
The big apple rots in the heat
    Sunlight stains the streets
    And cripples the trees
    Drying out the leaves
The Destination is paved with perspiration from the eyebrows
    This sweat in beads
Is conquered by a slow gust
    Of the summer breeze
    Heat waves relief
    Or calm to future grief

  • MOTHER’S ARMS

    by ERIC

    Cascade of a cadence
    Radiant melodies
    Resembling anything but hatred
    Fast paced from the heart
    Ending in stasis
    Keeping hearts at home captive
    Cardiac insulation
    Away from harm
    World’s protection
    Maternal arms
    Child’s self reflection
    Mental injection
    The apple gains seeds
    After the forbidden fruit
    Falls from the trees
    Her recollection in a sentence
    Nurtures my retrospect
    Child’s provision
