Poetry makes me try!<br \/>\nto be someone I don\u2019t know, it makes<br \/>\nme try to understand others and their life.<br \/>\nPoetry to me is more than a form of writing,<br \/>\nit\u2019s a way for me to live.<br \/>\nYes! Live! it allows me to escape my<br \/>\nhardships of life, bring me to an understanding<br \/>\nof why my father doesn\u2019t love me<br \/>\nor why do people tend to retreat to their\u00a0secret garden.<br \/>\nBut enough about my needs.<br \/>\nSometimes poetry I write isn\u2019t for me,<br \/>\nit\u2019s for my sister that I love dearly,<br \/>\nthe girl that doesn\u2019t know if she\u2019ll decide to take her own life,<br \/>\nto give her the clarity her unbiological brother loves her,<br \/>\nor for the people who don\u2019t know the flip side of a story,<br \/>\nor for a child they will soon say is nothing but a statistic.<br \/>\nPoetry&#8230;poetry&#8230;it\u2019s poetry.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s there you live it everyday. It is life,<br \/>\nit is love, it is loyal to your heartfelt opinions.<br \/>\nSo what does poetry mean to me?<br \/>\nThat\u2019s a rhetorical question that should be slapped<br \/>\nfrom every person&#8217;s mouth who has to ask.<br \/>\nWhat is poetry to me?<br \/>\nIt\u2019s the parent who sneaks into your room at night<br \/>\nto kiss you goodnight when all is balmy.<br \/>\nWhat is poetry?
