As the temperatures drop, activities start to move from outdoors to indoors. Just because you are indoors, doesn’t mean you can’t be having fun and getting some exercise too. What can you and your family do to stay fit while having a blast? Ice skating, of course! It’s time to kick off your shoes, lace up those skates and hit the ice! Don’t be afraid if you have never ice skated before, some rinks even offer instruction.

Fuel Tank at Fishers

Formerly the FORUM at Fishers. All-week public skate times available: Monday-Thursday 12:00-2:00 pm, Fridays 12:00-2:00 pm with a Cosmic Rock N Skate from 7:30-10:30 pm, Saturday 1:30-3:30 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm and Sunday 2:00-4:00 pm. Holiday skate times are also available. Thinking about taking lessons? The Fuel Tank hosts USFS Basic Skills program. Students are assigned to class based on skill level. Classes are offered year-round for ages three and up at all skill levels. Skaters will learn proper skating techniques to enjoy skating in any on-ice situation.

Admission $12 for Friday Night, Cosmic Rock N Skate; $9 for Saturday and Sunday afternoons; $9 for holiday skates; $6 for Monday through Friday afternoons. Skate rental: $3.

Carmel Ice Skadium

The Zotec Partners Carmel Ice Skadium is a two-sheet, ice rink facility in Carmel, Indiana. Founded in 1974, the building has been serving generations of figure and recreational skaters, along with our city’s hockey community for over 40 years. The Zotec Partners Carmel Ice Skadium is home to two, NHL-sized rinks, along with a fully-stocked snack bar, party rooms and a pro shop. Public skate times offered daily. Do you like hockey and want to work on your skills? Then be sure to stop by during their weekly stick and puck hours. Helmet, stick and gloves are required. Adult open hockey is also available for those 18 and older who would like to participate in a friendly no-check pick-up game without the commitment of a league. A cosmic skate is offered every Saturday evening. Times are subject to change. Check out their calendar for public skate times.

Arctic Zone Iceplex Westfield

Arctic Zone has a lot to offer guests including public skating, lessons, stick and puck hours, Birthday parties, hockey clinics and camps and a High School hockey high-intensity weight training program. Check out Cheap Skate Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:15. Just $6 includes admission, skate rental, a hot dog and a 12 ounce drink. Public skate times vary, so be sure to check out their calendar for times. Cosmic skate open Friday-Saturday at 7:30 pm.

Want to try ice skating outdoors? The bundle up and check out this FREE outdoor rink located in the Pendleton-Falls Park between the circle and the creek. Visitors are required to bring their own skates. Keep in mind there are no park attendants onsite so patrons are asked to keep everyone’s safety in mind during their visit.

Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center

Located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion and Cheri Daniels Arena is now managed by the Fuel Tank staff. Customers will continue to enjoy skating activities from September through March. Skate times available: Fridays 7:30-9:30 pm; Saturdays at 1:30-3:30 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm; Sundays at 1:00-3:00 pm. Holiday skate times are also available.

Admission $9 for public and holiday skate. Skate rental: $3. NOTE: A $5 parking fee is enforced.

On the Southside

Perry Park

Weekend public skate times available: Tuesday through Thursday 3:00-5:00 pm; Friday 12:00-2:00 pm, 3:00-5:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm; Saturdays 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm; Sundays 3:00-5:00 pm. Freestyle figure skating time is available on Mondays from 3:45-5:15 pm. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for kids. Perry Park also offers pick-up hockey for adults 18 and over on Wednesdays from 9:45-11:15 pm. The cost is $12 and full equipment is required. Goalies skate for free.

Admission $6 {$5 ages 17 and under}. Skate rental: $3. With a group of 15 or more who pay together, skate rental fee is waived.
