This May, prioritize your brain health and keep stroke prevention top of mind by following the American Heart Association\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.strokeassociation.org\/en\/healthy-living\/healthy-lifestyle\/my-life-check--lifes-simple-7\" class=\"broken_link\">Life\u2019s Simple 7<\/a> and taking these three key steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Eat a heart-healthy diet.<br \/>\n<\/strong>It emphasizes vegetables, fruits and whole grains; includes fat-free or low-fat dairy products, poultry, fish, legumes, non-tropical vegetable oils and nuts; and limits sodium, sweets, sugar-sweetened beverages and red meats<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Engage in physical activity regularly.<\/strong><br \/>\nExercise helps your brain de-stress and helps your heart stay healthy. Any movement counts- playing sports, exercising in the gym or going for a brisk walk can all make a physical and mental difference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Know your numbers.<\/strong><br \/>\nTake preventative steps now to avoid regret later. Keep track of your blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, triglyceride and blood sugar levels to know your risk of developing certain conditions. Address them as soon as possible with your doctor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s also important to know the warning signs of stroke \u2014 F.A.S.T. \u2014 a simple acronym that could save your life:<\/p>\n<p><strong>F<\/strong>-Face drooping<br \/>\n<strong>A<\/strong>-Arm weakness<br \/>\n<strong>S<\/strong>-Speech difficulty<br \/>\n<strong>T<\/strong>-Time to call 911<\/p>\n<p>Ready to get your head in the game?
