I believe that there is an activity or sport for every student that can help them remain active throughout their lives.

Feel free to take a look at a selection of the content I have developed during my time at Butler University by selecting a class under the “Classes” drop down.

Below is a video summary of describing my practicum teaching experience at Fox Hill Elementary School:

Philosophy of Education

In today’s society, children are not getting enough physical activity, causing obesity rates to rise and overall well-being to diminish; however, this trend can be reversed with a physical education foundation that promotes physical fitness and engagement in lifetime sports. It’s necessary for students’ well-being that physical education classes lay the groundwork for one’s physically active life.

Students should be placed in a positive environment that allows them to learn how to take care of their bodies and find enjoyment in fitness and sports. If this can be achieved, students will develop the knowledge and interest necessary to partake in an extra-curricular physical activity, which can ultimately lead to a lifelong engagement in the sport.

It is imperative that all students receive an equal opportunity to learn and develop the chance to increase their physical fitness. The educator must keep in mind individual differences between students and use a variety of techniques to satisfy a wide range of students. Additionally, the educator needs to create a positive learning environment for students’ physical, emotional and social well-being.  If all students are able to develop the skills and knowledge needed to be physically active, they will be on the right path to a healthy lifestyle.
