How do I register for a student parking permit?

Note: The online parking registration page is only available near the beginning of each term. For assistance with parking permits when the online form is unavailable, please visit the Office of Vehicle Registration at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Hampton Drive.

  1. Login and clickarrowSelf Service > Student Center.
  2. In the Personal Information area, click on the Register My Vehicle link.
  3. The Parking Regulations page appears. Read through the agreement, click on the check box to indicate that you have read it and click the “Continue” button.
  4. The Register My Vehicle page appears. By default, information about the last vehicle you registered for a parking permit at Butler will appear in the My Vehicle section. Verify that this is the vehicle you wish to register.If the correct information is not displayed or you wish to register a different vehicle, click the  Clear vehicle fields button to clear all of the vehicle fields and enter the information for the vehicle you wish to register. All fields in this section are required. You may view information regarding your registered vehicles by clicking the hyperlink on the page labeled “View Previous Vehicle Info”.Tip: In the “Make” field enter the brand of vehicle you drive (Ford, Chevrolet, Honda).  In the “Model” field enter the model name (Taurus, Malibu, Accord).
  5. Permit Type:  Click the radio button next to the type of decal you require.
  6. Class Level:  Click the drop-down to enter your class level.
  7. First/Additional Vehicle: If this is the first vehicle you are registering for the year, enter First Vehicle/Permit. Otherwise, for your second vehicle (or more) enter Additional Vehicle/Permit. Replacement Permit is not a valid option on the self-service pages at this time.   Replacement permits must be obtained at the Office of Vehicle Registration at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Hampton Drive.
  8. Deliver Permit To:  If you selected a Resident, Village or Greek permit, the Hall/House field will appear.  Select the name of your residence hall or Greek house.  Permits are delivered to residence halls during the first week of school.  Greek permits are picked up at the Vehicle Registration Office by a house representative.If you selected a Commuter permit, an address may be displayed in the address fields.  Commuter permits require an off-campus delivery address with an Address Type of “LOCL” or “HOME”.  If the address shown on the screen is not correct, overriding the address using the check box labeled “Check box to override address” will allow you to enter a different address.  Click the magnifying glass icon next to the Address Type field to select a different address type.  Permits are mailed to Commuters beginning in July.  You may wish to change the mailing address based on where you will be able to receive mail in July or August, or you may wish to wait until you come to campus to register your vehicle.Note: An address entered on this page will not be updated on any official university records. This address field is for parking permit mailing purposes only. To update your address with the university, follow the steps in the help topic titled How do I view or edit my address information (student view)?
  9. Click the Submit button button to save your registration and send the charge to Student Accounts.

Once you submit your registration you will not be able to change the information you entered.  If a correction is required, please visit the Office of Vehicle Registration at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Hampton Drive.

Tip:  To register a second vehicle, either click the button labeled “Enter A Different Vehicle” or start a new registration page by clicking again on the “Register My Vehicle” link on the Student Center.
