How do I search for classes during registration?

Note: To follow the steps below, you need to be in the registration process. To look up classes before registration, see How can I search for classes before registration?

Navigate to your shopping cart from the Student Center. Then, from the Add Classes page, you can search for additional classes in one of four ways.

Class Number

  1. If you know the four-digit class number for the class you want, enter it in the Enter Class Nbr text box and click the Enter buttonbutton.
  2. Confirm that the class you want is the class identified on the screen, then click the button.
  3. You are returned to the shopping cart, and the desired class appears in your shopping cart.

Class Search

  1. Select the radio button next to Class Search and click the Search buttonbutton.
  2. Follow these suggestions for class searches to locate the desired class.
  3. Click the Select Classbutton to the right of the desired section.
  4. Confirm that the class and section information displayed is what you want, then click the Next button button.
  5. You are returned to the shopping cart, and the selected class is displayed in the shopping cart list.

Example 1: enter the two-character course subject code (like CH for chemistry) and the catalog number (like 105) and click Search. You’ll see a list of all open sections of CH 105.

Example 2: enter course subject of ID (for Change & Tradition) and a course number of “2,” change Is Exactly to Contains, click Search, and you will see a list of all open ID classes with the number 2 in the catalog number.

Example 3: enter ‘Geib’ in the Instructor’s Last Name field, click Search and you will see a list of all open classes taught by Prof. George Geib for the term.

Tip: If you are unsure how to spell the instructor’s last name, enter the first few letters and change Is Exactly to Contains to broaden your search.

My Requirements

  1. Select the radio button next to My Requirements and click the Search buttonbutton.
  2. On the Search by My Requirements page, use the Show detail button  button to expand the desired requirement section to see if relevant classes will be offered during the upcoming semester.
  3. To see available sections, click on the class title link for the desired class.
  4. Click the Select button button next to the section you want to add to your shopping cart.
  5. Confirm that the class and section information displayed is what you want, then click the Next button button.
  6. You are returned to the shopping cart, and the selected class is displayed in the shopping cart list.

My Planner

Note: To use My Planner, you must first add some classes to your planner.

  1. Select the radio button next to My Planner and click the Search button button.
  2. Click the Select button button to the right of the class you want to add.
  3. Click the Select button button to the right of the section you want.
  4. Confirm that the class displayed is the one you want, then click the Next button button.
  5. You are returned to the shopping cart, and the selected class is displayed in the shopping cart list.
