How should I prepare for registration?

Use this handy checklist to make sure you’re ready to enroll in classes when registration opens.

  1. If any of your fall classes have pre-requisites that you will be taking over the summer, be sure to enroll in the summer class first before you attempt to enroll in the fall class.
  2. Look up and resolve any holds you might have before your enrollment appointment. (See How do I know if I have a hold on my account? for more information.)
  3. Four-digit class numbers are not the same from semester to semester. For example, EN 205 01 might have a four-digit class number 1432 one semester, and 5897 the next. Be sure you’ve got the right number!
  4. If you need a permission number for a class, see the My.Butler Help topic What is a class permission number, how do I get one, and how do I use it? to learn how to work with permission numbers.
  5. Take a printed copy of your advisement audit to your advisor meeting. See How do I look up my advising audit? to learn more.
  6. If you need to enroll in a class pass/fail (PF) or for no credit (NC) and the class is normally graded (or vice versa), enroll normally and then contact your advisor to change the grade basis. This holds your place in the class you want.
  7. Know when your enrollment appointment opens. See How do I find out the time of my enrollment appointment? to learn how to view your enrollment appointment.
  8. If you need help, try one of these options.
