What are term codes?

Term codes are four-digit numbers that uniquely identify an academic semester. Term codes help to precisely identify the semesters. At Butler, these codes start out with a 4. The middle two digits indicate the academic year—in other words, the year in which the fall semester began. The last digit indicates the specific semester. (1=fall semester; 3=spring semester; 6=summer I; 7=summer II)

For example, The fall, 2012 semester would be identified by the term code 4121. The spring, 2013 semester would be term code 4123.

Many functions available through My.Butler no longer require you to enter the four-digit term code. Instead, you can select from lists or drop downs that are labeled with the text description of the semester. However, you may still need to enter a term code for some functions in My.Butler.

However, you can still set your term code default by visiting your preferences page. See the following links for more details.
