What do I do if errors appear in my enrollment status?

If you see an error message on the Add Classes – View Results page, it means that that enrollment transaction was not processed (i.e you were not enrolled in the class). There are several reasons why an enrollment might have an error. Here are the most common problems and how to deal with them.

If the message reads:

  • You have a hold on your record. This indicates you have a hold on your record preventing registration. See How do I know if I have a hold on my record? to see how to view your holds information.
  • You cannot add this class due to a time conflict… Your desired enrollment class conflicts with a class you are already enrolled in.  Click Fix Errors to go back and choose a different class or drop the exisiting enrolled class. (see How do I drop a class?)
  • Class XXXX is full. The class you are trying to register for is full. Click Fix Errors to go back and choose a different class; or, get a permission number  to get in the class. See What is a Class Permission Number, how do I get one, and how do I use it? for more info on class permission numbers.
  • Unable to add this class – requisites have not been met. You have not met the enrollment requirements for the class. This could be a problem with either the pre-requisites or co-requisites for the class you’re trying to enroll in. Check Course Search to look up the class, and click on the section title link to see the full description of
    the course and its requisites.

If you think you have met the course pre-requisites, check all classes to be sure you were able to get the requested section; you must request all co-requisite classes in the same enrollment request. Click Fix Errors to go back and choose a different class; or, get a permission number to get in the class. See What is a Class Permission Number, how do I get one, and how do I use it? for more info on class permission numbers.

  • Maximum term unit load exceeded. Add transaction not processed. The maximum term unit load would be exceeded. This means that the class will put you over the maximum amount of hours you’re allowed to enroll yourself in for the semester. To enroll in more hours, contact your advisor or the dean’s office (for your major) for permission to enroll in more hours. The maximum credit hour load for undergraduates varies between 18 and 20 hours. ( Liberal Arts & Sciences students can enroll in a max of 18 hours.)
