What is “instructor access” or “advisor access” or “seek access”?

All employees of Butler University have basic access to the MyButler portal. It takes additional security privileges to enter grades, see rosters or enroll a student in a class, and these privileges aren’t assigned automatically—users must request this additional access.

Instructor access generally refers to the ability to view class rosters and submit grades online. To get Instructor access to the MyButler portal, submit a signed Code of Responsibility (found under New Hire Documents and Forms) to the Human Resources Office and make sure that the Registration and Records Offices is informed of the classes you will be teaching.

Advisor access includes all the functions of Instructor access, plus the ability to remove advising holds and enroll students in classes. To get Advisor access to the MyButler portal, submit a signed Code of Responsibility to the Human Resources Office and an email request the Office of Registration and Records.

Seek access includes student schedules, class rosters and basic demographic data about a student. To get Seek access to the MyButler portal, submit a signed Code of Responsibility to the Human Resources Office and an email request to helpdesk@butler.edu.

Please note that the Code of Responsibility form is available through Forms Central in the MyButler portal and you should allow at least four days for your request to be processed.
