The easiest way to determine if your video card supports multiple monitors is to look at the back of your computer and see if your card has two video ports for connecting your monitors. On a laptop, this port may be on the side of your computer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/Drupopto\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/Article%20Images\/Multiple%20Monitors\/Ports%282%29.jpeg\" alt=\"alt\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once you have made sure that your video card can support a second monitor, follow these steps to add the additional monitor:<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">1.) Turn off your computer and monitor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">2.) Locate the video ports on your computer. (See illustration.)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">3.) Connect the second monitor to the unused video port.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">4.) Plug the second monitor into an electrical power source and turn it on.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">5.) Turn on your original monitor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">6.) Turn on your computer.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">7.) Windows\u00a0should recognize the monitor once the computer has started. If you are prompted to install driver software, see the instructions that came with the monitor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">8.) You may need to enable multiple monitor support on your operating system. Please read your instruction manual if you do not see a display on your secondary monitor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nWhen you have confirmed that the second monitor is functioning properly, you are now ready to begin screen capturing with multiple monitors.<\/p>\n<h2>Capturing on multiple monitors<\/h2>\n<p>1.)\u00a0Open the Panopto Recorder.<\/p>\n<p>2.)\u00a0On the lower left hand side of the recorder interface, click the check box next to &#8220;Capture Screen 2&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2013-10-23_115408_0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"627\" height=\"554\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A new tab labeled &#8220;Screen 2&#8221; will appear, displaying the output of the second monitor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2013-10-23_115337.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"627\" height=\"485\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to only capture the output from the secondary monitor, be sure to uncheck &#8220;Capture Primary Screen.&#8221; If you&#8217;d like to remove either of these streams in the future, it can be found under the &#8220;Streams&#8221; tab in the Panopto\u00a0web interface.<\/p>\n<p>After naming your session and selecting a folder, hit the large &#8220;Record&#8221; button to begin your recording.
