Converting files with Handbrake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/quickguides\/files\/2014\/04\/1398457281_105.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-753 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/quickguides\/files\/2014\/04\/1398457281_105.png\" alt=\"Information\" width=\"64\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><em>While there are many free utilities for converting video files we recommend Handbrake for compressing large files or re-encoding unsupported file formats.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1>Converting Video Files for Panopto Unison<\/h1>\n<p>Unison (the service that allows you to upload video files to Panopto as sessions) will only accept certain file formats for upload. If you have a file you want to upload via Unison that is not in a compatible format, you will need to convert it for use in Unison. This method makes use of HandBrake, a completely free, open-source transcoder that will run on Windows or Mac OS. There are numerous other converters that you may use if you wish; HandBrake is merely one solution that has proven to work.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download and install <a href=\"http:\/\/handbrake.fr\/\">HandBrake<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If you plan to encode more than one video at once, click Tools &#8211; Options &#8211; Output Files &#8211; select &#8220;Automatically name output files&#8221; &#8211; choose a path then click Close<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"586\" height=\"278\" \/>\n<p>Click Source and choose either Open Folder (for more than one file) or Open File (for a single file). In this example, we will choose Open Folder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1015\" height=\"680\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the folder containing your video files and click Select Folder\u00a0(note: subfolders within this folder will not be recognized)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"952\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select High Profile<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1007\" height=\"670\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If the source resolution matches the Display Size, skip the next step<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"239\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If it doesn&#8217;t match (like in the above example), change Anamorphic to None &#8211; set the Width &amp; Height to match the source<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Add To Queue<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"998\" height=\"493\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These steps need to be repeated on each file. To move on to the next file, click the dropdown next to Title and choose the next video file<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1015\" height=\"680\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After all the video files have been properly configured and added to the queue, click start<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/support.panopto.com\/sites\/default\/files\/hb9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"347\" height=\"217\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then batch upload the new m4v files to Panopto.
