\"Information\"If you teach similar courses repeatedly from semester to semester, it can be useful to import old course content from a previous semester into a new course for the current semester. Moodle will allow you to import old activities and resources or even copy an entire course into another.<\/em><\/p>\n

  1. In the course you want to import into<\/strong> (not the course you want to import from<\/strong>), go to the Administration block and click\u00a0\"Import\".<\/li>\n
  2. From the Import page, select the\u00a0\"Radio<\/a>\u00a0for the course you want to import from<\/strong>. Note that the page only shows ten courses. If you have more courses and the one you want isn’t listed, use the search box and click\u00a0\"Search\"\u00a0to find it.<\/li>\n
  3. Click\u00a0\"Continue\"\u00a0to use the selected course for import.<\/li>\n
  4. You will be asked to select whether to\u00a0\"Include,\u00a0\"Include, or\u00a0\"Include. Activities include things like assignment, quizzes, files, etc. Blocks include the blocks along the side of the course. Since these are mostly uniform, there may not be a change from semester to semester. Filters are often not altered and may be included or excluded. Check the boxes for each type you want, or leave them all checked if you want to copy the course exactly. Click\u00a0\"Next\".<\/li>\n
  5. If you have chosen to include activities, you will be asked which activities or resources to include. By default, all activities are checked, which is useful if you want to copy a course exactly. If not, you can check boxes for particular activities to only bring them over. Bear in mind, though, that to import an activity you must also bring the topic section (the\u00a0bolded<\/strong> entries) that contains it.Warning: If you have any Turnitin assignments in the import (any entries with a\u00a0\"Turnitin\u00a0next to them), you must<\/span> deselect them before the import. Importing Turnitin assignments will create student conflicts between the old assignment and the new one.<\/strong><\/em>

  6. You will be taken to a confirmation and review page. There are no options to set here; it’s just a summary of what’s selected for import and what is not. Anything marked with a\u00a0\"Green\u00a0will be imported, anything with a\u00a0\"Red\u00a0will not. Click\u00a0\"Perform\u00a0to import the course.<\/li>\n
