No student will come into my classroom understanding every vocabulary word perfectly. Just like they learned\u00a0the English language, I will have to teach them the language of Mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>The course was about the importance of Content Literacy \u00a0in Middle\/Secondary Curriculum. Prior to the course I had no idea how it would relate to my future Mathematics Curriculum. Now I know that my students must be literate in Mathematics. This is the rationale I created towards the end of my course, when I finally understood the importance of Content Literacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content Literacy Rationale:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/rachelwraley\/files\/2016\/04\/Content-Literacy-Rationale.pdf\" rel=\"\">Content Literacy Rationale<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the semester I took this course Shortridge High School was a school with grades 6-12 in one building. Throughout the course I tutored a 6th grade student at Shortridge who was failing the Math portion of the ISTEP. Prior to starting the ISTEP tutoring I was given some academic background information on my student.
