TO MY PROBLEM, CYNICISM

It’s really just school.
Enlightenment? I say not!
Pieces of paper?
Perhaps. A strange pressuring,
with tests and essays,
even with problem sets, indeed…
Expectations too.
Ah yeas, wanting students
to learn calculus,
or even physics, and yet,
not about real life,
with its taxes and politics…
Where’s the quadratic equation?
Sure, the three “R’s” are basic,
but that’s expected
in this complex world of ours.
It’s simplicities
in the complexities, and
regardless, good schools teach us
not only theories,
but also skills, common sense…
and that’s not enough!…
I’ll end here, for now, at least.
¡Salud! and keep hope…
alive!
