SENTRY
by ELAD
It was a dark and stormy night when, through the pouring sheet of rain, on a narrow street where a single street light stood flickering like a flame, illuminating two people, two shadowy, rough people, whose hats were pulled over their faces and whose black, slick trench coats reflected the glean of the light which towered over the people, watching like a silent sentry, a sole sign of comfort in this harsh alley and carved a path of light, revealing more details of the rough, bumpy brick road and it’s water filled potholes which flowed over their edges, as the rain poured down, splashing against the curb, suddenly a shot rang out.
ART
by JAROD
Somedays I think and I
Start to think again about opportunities and dwell
On the roach that is in
My mind and the possibility that
My life feels like I’m slowly dying
And prevents the emotional feeling that is
Sympathy and beauty in an
Image of a flower which is Art.
BREATHLESS
by AJANI
I hadn’t known it’d end up so reckless,
We walked through the woods, under a half-moon;
I ended up breathless.
In the woods, we walked passed many cypress
The plan began at high-noon…
I hadn’t known it’d end up so reckless.
I wish, in the end they weren’t so mirthless
In the end I ended up being their goon
I ended up breathless.
He stood there, a cold look in his eyes…unless…
Foolish things that began in June
I hadn’t known it’d end up so reckless
I ended up breathless.
MAGIC
by OWEN
The land of magic
Where wishes come to rest
Where the snow is eternal
Where happiness stays to play
The land that the envy of existing
Is eternally evident through everlasting
Enjoyment
The land of magic
The place that exists to make dreams come true
WHERE
by JAROD
Where the table could be stable
Where the maple was fed through a cable
Where mops could slop
Where fat people flop
Where pictures weren’t fake and
Where the prop wasn’t cropped
Where Kyle fell down the stairs
Where life had zero cares
Where all you had to do is stop but
Where you don’t and your life flops
STRIPES
by MAEVE
Words clink in different shades of flowers and gardens I think.
they grow from walking around on
skeleton ends. So end up back to mend and bend,
Stripes. They colored the sidewalk instead of using chalk
Stripes! Knock on my door,
Stripes, send me into shock.
Grab your glitterly change and get ready to go gaze.
LOVE
by ALTON
I spy with my little eye, something that may hurt.
It can knock you down or dust you off, and pick you up from the dirt.
Some people need it to feel warm, others connect with winter.
Just be careful, it feels good or it can hurt like a splinter.
It’s powerful, it can cause birth and death.
It makes soothing memories that replay mentally until the last breath.
It is superior, so you’re the dog and this will walk you.
It is bizarre just like the victim who stalks you.
It’s cute at first, fluffy, with every lick, then
it grows and grows like a pup to a pitt.
Strange you have the feeling I’m yours? Well me, too.
And, if not, stay calm because it will find you.
THE PROPOSITION
by ELAD
The banker’s mustache quivered as he looked up to face the young engineer. ”With ideas like this, do you seriously expect to be taken seriously?”
The engineer looked down at his lap, and fiddled with one of the rock=hard chocolate chip cookies that lay on a gilded tray on the bankers elaborately carved oak desk. Just as he had feared. Another rejection.
The banker spoke again, “I said, are you seriously expecting to be taken seriously? We have neither the time nor capital to invest in a crackpot invention as your own.”
The engineer finally looked up and met the banker’s eyes. The banker was a clearly well-fed, rather stout man with a short neck and large, angry, droopy, mustache. Not a very impressive man.
The banker began to show clear signs of stress under the iron gate of the engineer. The silence continued for a few seconds more, till the elegant, gilded rotary telephone on the desk rang abruptly, visibly startling the banker.
He broke off from the engineer’ gaze and motioned for the young engineer to leave the room as he picked up the phone.
The engineer strode purposefully out of the office, through the cathedral like foyer and out of the massive limestone facade. The engineer slumped down on the towering stairs, head in hand, pulling a set of blueprints out of a folder. The engineer’s eyes glanced over the plans. One day, in a more enlightened world, she thought, someone will have use for a device that can solve arithmetic for them.
GUNSHOT
by ESA
The sound reaches every corner, nook, and cranny.
The killer lowers his gun in disbelief.
He runs and runs and runs, no knowing who he killed or why.
He reaches home, nobody is there.
Our killer calls out for anyone to answer him.
He panics at the sight of splattered blood on his hoodie.
His hands get sweaty,
Then he thinks: safe place.
Our killer runs to his room, locks the door and cries.
He is alone.
A light appears outside.
Everything turns bright except for the silhouette of a building.
As he goes closer, he sees it’s a church.
He walks in.
Everyone from his mother to his first-cousin is there.
Crying in disbelief, all around shook.
Our killer spies the open casket.
He walks up to see what poor soul left this life.
And to his disbelief, it’s him.
See I don’t think you understand so I’ll break it down.
Our killer had a gun,
he loaded the gun,
and took his own life.
And he’s crying now.
He didn’t mean it, he swears.
But alas it’s too late.
And now our poor killer walks the streets, invisible.
Having to live…er, die with what he did.
To himself.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER
by AMARIS
You told me happily ever after, but how can we be happily ever after when you have done me wrong so many times. Happily ever after doesn’t mean cheat, it doesn’t mean disrespect me. It sure doesn’t mean lie. You’ve been lying to me from the start, you told me you’d break my heart. Then you said happily ever after. I began to wonder what that meant. Now I know.
