  • Coordinated events for public at the request of senior advisor Trish Whitcomb-Sipes and Superintendent Glenda Ritz including Hoosier Family of Readers, Indiana Math Summits, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summits.
  • Interacted with CTE administrators for feedback and reflection on the status of CTE education in Indiana in preparation for CTE conferences.
  • Attended State Board of Education meetings, press conferences, and policy briefs for the IDOE to inform personal education practice.

 

Center for Urban Ecology (CUE) Intern August 2011-Present

  • Collaborated with the CUE, the Butler College of Education, and the faculty, students, and staff of Shortridge Middle/High school to conceptualize a plan for an urban farm and greenhouse.
  • Dedicated 10 months to transforming the greenhouse space to create an engaging space for classroom and group learning.
  • Adapted lessons and activities in which students critically considered the importance of science and sustainability in an increasingly globalized world through problem based learning.

 

PRO 100 Leadership Intern June 2012-July 2012

Eugene and Marilyn Glick Foundation Indianapolis, IN

  • Coordinated with Butler University and the Glick Foundation to lead a group of 20 students from the Indianapolis metropolitan area in landscaping and leadership activities.
  • Designed learning opportunities for the students through career exploration and mentorship, college investigation, technology education, and team building activities.
  • Executed a curriculum driven by student interest and building toward developing skills which the students could use as leaders in their own communities.
