We had an exciting day back today!\u00a0 I believe the highlight of the day was during Math Workshop.\u00a0 We have been talking a lot about measurement.\u00a0 Today we introduced the ruler.\u00a0 When the kids came to work with me in their small group we measured multiple things in the room.\u00a0 They were so happy to learn about a new tool!<\/p>\n

Dorothy and BreAnna were working hard measuring their notebooks.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wyatt was measuring away with the ruler!<\/p><\/div>\n

As if that was not enough, we introduced Science to a small group of friends today.\u00a0 During Free Choice time a group of 5 students came over and played “Melt the Ice.”\u00a0 They rolled a die and each number correlated to an action you had to do with a piece of ice.\u00a0 The goal of the game was to melt your ice.\u00a0 It was fun to listen to the kids and hear their observations as they played.\u00a0 They noticed that the more heat you added to the ice the faster it melted.\u00a0 This lead us into a short conversation about liquids and solids.\u00a0 Each day a small group of students will be working with me on a science activity.\u00a0 We will do a new activity each week.<\/p>\n

Finally, we have a new friend in our class!\u00a0 Salih joined us today and will be with us for the rest of our school year.\u00a0 I am sure you will be hearing about our new friend.\u00a0 Our class was so kind and welcoming today.\u00a0 I must say I was very proud of their genuine kindness!<\/p>\n
