{"id":2235,"date":"2012-01-25T20:52:06","date_gmt":"2012-01-26T01:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/?p=2235"},"modified":"2012-01-25T20:52:24","modified_gmt":"2012-01-26T01:52:24","slug":"math-puzzles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/2012\/01\/25\/math-puzzles\/","title":{"rendered":"Math Puzzles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Math Workshop, I introduced a new area to the students.\u00a0 As I have said before, the workshop is split into two sections, one working with me on the lesson and the other playing math games.\u00a0 Today I introduced math puzzles. (These will take place during math game time.)\u00a0 Each student has a folder that will hold different independent puzzles.\u00a0 These are not what you would typically think of as a puzzle, but rather a number game.\u00a0\u00a0 For example, today each student started with a hundreds chart that had spaces left blank.\u00a0 The students had to look and figure out which number was missing.\u00a0 They could count or they could notice patterns in the numbers to figure out their answer.\u00a0 Either way they are working with numbers in their head!\u00a0 As we get into this routine, I will add more advanced puzzles and mind games for the students to complete.\u00a0 I know I have said this all week, but I was so proud of their work today!\u00a0 They all took these puzzles very seriously!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/01\/IMG_0583.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2236\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/01\/IMG_0583-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Kristien, J'Nayla, Olivia, and Sophia are all working on their math puzzles.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/01\/IMG_0583-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/01\/IMG_0583-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/01\/IMG_0583.jpg 1066w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Math Workshop, I introduced a new area to the students.\u00a0 As I have said before, the workshop is split into two sections, one working with me on the lesson and the other playing math games.\u00a0 Today I introduced math puzzles.
