{"id":2633,"date":"2012-02-29T20:00:31","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T01:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/?p=2633"},"modified":"2012-02-29T20:00:31","modified_gmt":"2012-03-01T01:00:31","slug":"gorgeous-and-super-fun-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/2012\/02\/29\/gorgeous-and-super-fun-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Gorgeous and Super Fun Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First of all, what a beautiful day today was!\u00a0 We enjoyed outside during recess, then we did yoga outside, then we read Charlotte&#8217;s Web and ate snack outside&#8230;everyone\u00a0 just LOVED it!<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday when I walked into the classroom, I noticed there were two big boxes in the room.\u00a0 When the children walked in, some asked, &#8220;What are those boxes for?&#8221;\u00a0 So, after Reader&#8217;s Workshop we had a wonderfully engaging conversation about what the boxes were for, and each child that offered their suggestion said some form of rocket should be made!\u00a0 Some of the children went over to the boxes to describe what we should do!<\/p>\n<p>Then this afternoon while some friends continued to work on their paper towel tube rockets, some other friends drew plans for what they wanted the rocket to look like.\u00a0 While these two things were happening, some friends started working on a mural with oil pastels.\u00a0 They added some beautiful rockets to our mural.\u00a0 Each week we will continue to add &#8220;space&#8221; objects to our mural as we learn about them.<\/p>\n<p>The last thing that we did during our project work time was have a fun balloon rocket race.\u00a0 The children tied two lines of fishing lines from one chair to another chair.\u00a0 Then, we blew up balloons and attached them to two straws.\u00a0 Then the children released the balloons and off they went!\u00a0 It was so fun.\u00a0 The children were counting down (like real countdowns) then cheering for both friends who were releasing the balloons.\u00a0 After we cleaned up from our project work time, we had a great discussion about how this balloon experiment worked.\u00a0 Emily said that when the air went out the balloon went forward!\u00a0\u00a0 Madeline S. said that it stopped when the air went out.\u00a0 Then, Malachi offered some great connections to rockets in that he said it was just like when the gas and fire goes out of rockets-they stop!<\/p>\n<p>What a wonderful day!!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2636\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0875.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2636\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2636\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0875-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2636\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Malachi, Isaac, and Selam working with Miss Kesler on some plans for our rocket!<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2635\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0877.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2635\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2635\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0877-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2635\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tevona doing a beautiful job drawing a rocket on our mural.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2634\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0884.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2634\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2634\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/02\/IMG_0884-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2634\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Miss Templeton helping Heaven and Madeline P. get ready for their balloon rocket race!<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First of all, what a beautiful day today was!\u00a0 We enjoyed outside during recess, then we did yoga outside, then we read Charlotte&#8217;s Web and ate snack outside&#8230;everyone\u00a0 just LOVED it!
