They are excited to start preparing to solve the mystery of the leak at the Children&#8217;s Museum.\u00a0 This morning we practiced using pipettes during our science investigation: &#8220;How many drops of water can fit on a penny?&#8221;\u00a0 During morning meeting, the students shared their results and we realized that we got a lot of different answers.\u00a0 Here is a part of our conversation:<\/p>\n<p>Cameron: &#8220;I got nine drops on heads and 10 drops on tails.&#8221;\u00a0 Isabella: &#8220;I got 17 and 18 drops.&#8221;\u00a0 Jermaine: &#8220;I got 20 drops.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I then asked the students why they thought our results were so different.<\/p>\n<p>Himiko: &#8220;It could be different amounts of water because we have two different pipettes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chairo: &#8220;I think the pennies could be different like one could be rough and one could be smooth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jermaine: &#8220;It matters if the penny is on heads or tails.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Their theories about our different results were very thoughtful.\u00a0 We will continue our investigation this week and start our science meetings soon!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4834\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/10\/IMG_2232.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4834\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4834\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/10\/IMG_2232-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4834\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Isabella and Jermaine test how many drops of water will fit on a penny.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/10\/IMG_2240.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4835\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2012\/10\/IMG_2240-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Martavious, Kaitlyn, and Himiko investigate our penny theories from this morning.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today our daily question was &#8220;Do you think we should have science meetings to get ready for our field trip?&#8221;\u00a0 Most of the students answered yes to the question!
