{"id":976,"date":"2011-09-13T08:22:44","date_gmt":"2011-09-13T12:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/?p=976"},"modified":"2011-09-13T08:22:44","modified_gmt":"2011-09-13T12:22:44","slug":"butler-block-a-students-to-begin-practicum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/2011\/09\/13\/butler-block-a-students-to-begin-practicum\/","title":{"rendered":"Butler Block A Students to Begin Practicum!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_978\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2011\/09\/Block-A-Photo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-978\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-978\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2011\/09\/Block-A-Photo1-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2011\/09\/Block-A-Photo1-300x224.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2011\/09\/Block-A-Photo1-1024x764.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/school60\/files\/2011\/09\/Block-A-Photo1.jpg 1071w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-978\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Block A Students Pose for Photo in the Courtyard<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A key feature of the IPS\/Butler University Laboratory School is our collaboration with Butler University.\u00a0 A part of that collaboration includes a 15 credit hour course\u00a0called Block A.\u00a0 This teaching methods course focuses on young children, literacy, math, Reggio inspired practice and project-based learning.\u00a0 The course takes place on-site at our school in a classroom designed for college students, but the students will also have a practicum experience in our classrooms.\u00a0 The preschool classroom will have three Butler students while each of the k-1 classrooms will have four students assigned to them.\u00a0 The Butler students will (with a few schedule changes) be in our classrooms\u00a0every Wednesday for the entire day.\u00a0 Wednesday, September 14th will be the first full-day for the Butler students in our classrooms following a brief visit yesterday.\u00a0 The teachers and children are as excited as our Butler students for this experience to begin!\u00a0 The following comments by Block A students summarize how they are feeling about this opportunity:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I walked into the classroom today and the children just put me at ease.\u00a0 I felt so comfortable in the room; almost like it was my own.\u00a0 I cannot wait to jump in!&#8221; &#8211; Katie Jones<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As soon as I walked into the classroom, a child ran up to me and gave me a huge hug.\u00a0 That was the beginning of many hugs during my visit!\u00a0 I have found my home for the semester!&#8221; &#8211; Colleen Wilson<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t wait to start working with the kids!\u00a0 I know I will learn so much from them as we learn together.\u00a0 I was estatic today when I met two young girls whose interests are after those of my own heart &#8211; weddings, singing, dancing and family.\u00a0 I am excited to make more connections with the kids.&#8221; &#8211; Amy Gaisser<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am so excited to begin working with the students.\u00a0 They were so full of wonderful energy and excitement.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to see what they are going to teach me!&#8221; &#8211; Kaitlyn Love<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am overwhelmed with emotions.\u00a0 Emotions of joy, happiness and excitement.\u00a0 Emotions of unsure possibilities and unplanned paths.\u00a0 I cannot wait to start this journey and to experience more and more of these emotions.&#8221;
