Each semester, you’ll create three big projects. For more details, see the sub-pages labeled “Semester One” and “Semester Two.”<\/p>\n
In addition to these big projects, you’ll do some kind of work to prepare for nearly every class. This prep work is your buy-in: you’ll show it to me when you come into class to earn one of the following marks:<\/p>\n
check mark = you’ve done the work well, and you’re prepared to contribute to class<\/em><\/p>\n Y = you’ve made a good-faith effort at the assignment, but you can do better. (If you want, you can revise a Y-marked assignment to get a check)<\/em><\/p>\n U = unprepared<\/em><\/p>\n A = absent<\/em><\/p>\n L = late<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the end of each class meeting, I’ll give you a few minutes to jot down your contributions to the class that day, as well as what you’ve learned since the last time we met. After the completion of each big project, you’ll write up a summary of your contribution and learning logs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The contribution and learning summary is worth 10 points each time, for a total of 30 points per semester. I’ll grade the summary, then subtract one point for each “absence” and “unprepared,” and a 1\/2 point for each “you can do better” and “late.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Each semester, you’ll create three big projects.
