Butler’s revamped sports show “BU:30” set to begin

The new school year isn’t the only thing kicking off this fall at Butler University. A new class and show at Butler BU:30 will begin this fall and carries high aspirations as to where it will end up. Professor Eric Esterline had the idea of revamping the sports show at Butler previously known as the “Bulldog Blitz”. His idea, BU:30 aims for a more up-beat and interactive setup.

This new sports show will be student ran and produced with the help of Esterline. Students have already gained access to events around Indianapolis to cover not only Butler Sports teams but also professional sports teams in the Indianapolis area (Colts, Indians and Pacers just to name a few).

BU:30 will be produced by a class of students here at Butler like Mark mentioned that will count as credit toward the sports media major.I was able to catch up with a couple students involved with the new show who expressed a lot of excitement with the production:

“Now the fact that we have all the people in the class that we do, we feel very strongly that we can put together a quality show week in and week out.”

Mark Pearson is a Junior here at Butler and is majoring in the newly founded sports media major. Also helping out with the production of BU:30 is another member of the junior class, Chase Monroe:

“People are gonna start noticing, both professionally/locally and stuff like that, that we are a legit sports show that will be doing the same kind of things as you see on like ESPN”

Chase Monroe helps out with production of BU:30, assisting producer Matt Michel. .

All students in the class must be at least a junior at Butler and each covers a separate beat for the show. Beats range from Butler football to the Indianapolis Colts. I could try and describe how the show will be laid out but the best way is for you to tune in yourself. BU:30 will have its first show filmed tomorrow.
