Tech Tips

MyRoll
This app is free and available on iOS and Android. It is a photo-roll organizer that groups photos into “moments” based on time or event. It also recognizes which photos you view more often and displays your favorites more prominently. You can think of it like it auto-albums your pictures, then it’s easier to find what you’re looking for. You also can switch to a traditional view. It was recently featured by Business Insider in the App 100: The World’s Greatest Apps.
Moodle Renovation
Changes to Moodle will be taking place for fall 2015. Interested in the updates? Check out the ongoing blog that details Moodle updates now and in the future: blogs.butler.edu/moodleevolution.

Announcements, Tech Tip

Participate in Important Campus Surveys

Healthy Horizons’ Survey

In a follow-up survey designed to measure employees’ attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors as they relate to colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screening, you will answer questions about your experiences with recent Healthy Horizons’ efforts to increase colorectal, breast and cervical cancer screening participation and awareness. The survey, which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, can be accessed April 22–May 5 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ButlerWSI_2015. Responses will be kept strictly confidential. Upon completing the survey you have the option of enrolling to win one of ten Butler polo shirts from the Butler bookstore.

Internal Communications Survey

Communication plays a vital role in our community, and the Internal Communications Task Force is seeking your input to help guide their initial work. Please participate in this anonymous survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ICTFsurvey. The survey will remain open through Thursday, May 14. Your feedback is important to us!

Male Participants Needed for Study ($50/hour)

Men aged 38-72 are needed for a study of speech understanding. If you have normal hearing, normal vision (glasses and contact lenses are okay), and high school or 1-2 years college at most, please contact Dr. Carrie Richie (crichie@butler.edu) for more information. The study involves one hour-long visit to Butler University and you will be paid $50 for your time.

Summer Games 2015

Back by popular demand, the Butler Summer Games return to campus June 3. Please save these dates:

  • Outdoor events will be held on Wednesdays noon–1:00 p.m. starting June 3–July 29.
  • Indoor table games will be held on Thursdays noon–1:00 p.m. starting June 4–July 23.

A detailed schedule will be available in the coming weeks. Come join Staff Assembly Activities and Socials Committee and Healthy Horizons for a great way to get active, meet people, and meet your wellness goals.

Tech Tip: Circle of 6 App

circleof6From the Circle of 6 website: With Circle of 6, you can connect with your friends to stay close, stay safe and prevent violence before it happens. The Circle of 6 app for iPhone and Android makes it quick and easy to reach the 6 friends you choose. Need help getting home? Need an interruption? Two touches lets your circle know where you are and how they can help. Icons represent actions; so that no one can tell what you’re up to.

Designed for college students, it’s fast, easy-to-use and private. It’s the mobile way to look out for your friends, on campus or when you’re out for the night.

You do not need 6 people to use this app successfully. You can fill in as few as you want, and double up to complete the number 6.

Circle of 6 is available on App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android.
