Committee Updates

Networking and Resources

  • The “Connecting Across Campus” event to connect new staff members with current staff, originally scheduled for September 2, was postponed and will be rescheduled soon. More information on the rescheduled event will be posted to the Connection and publicized through regular Staff Assembly channels. We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to meet our new folks, re-meet some of us who have been here for some time, and hopefully identify some new opportunities for partnership and collaboration across the campus.

Activities and Socials

  • 5:01’s the third Thursday of every month at Bent Rail Brewery (5301 Winthrop Ave.); this is a chance to informally interact with fellow colleagues.
  • Let the Games Continue: Euchre and Paper Football! Staff Assembly’s Activities and Socials Committee is sponsoring a weekly brown-bag-lunchtime gathering during the fall semester (and beyond). We’ll have cards for euchre and paper footballs to play, well, paper football! Beginners to both games are welcome—on-site instruction will be available. All staff, faculty, and students are welcome Wednesdays noon-1:00 PM, September 9–December 2, in Jordan Hall, Room 048.Please let Tim Thomas know if you have any questions or would like more information at tthomas1@butler.edu or x8533.

Communications

  • The Communications committee met and discussed how we can improve communication on items of interest/importance to staff. Our goal is to reach as many staff members as possible; currently, we use the Staff Assembly blog, Facebook, and Twitter. We are open to suggestions for additional forms of communication!  Submit suggestions using our online form or place your suggestion in one of the suggestion boxes located in the following places: Facilities Service Center (near Structure Shop entrance), outside JH 144, main floor of HRC, and bottom of stairs going into C-Club in Atherton Union.
