Andrew Bradley

Andrew BradleyWhy did you choose Butler for your college experience?

I chose Butler because of its academic reputation and location.  I wanted a university that could challenge me academically, but also have small classes and student to teacher ratios.  I love getting to know all my teachers and having the security that my professors have my education as one of their top priorities.  Also, Butler is only an hour drive from my house.  It is not too far away but also not too close to home.  It’s the perfect distance for me to develop my independence while also not being too far away to get free laundry services at home.  It was the perfect fit for my college education and experience.

What is one memory from your own orientation/ welcome week experience?

One memory would be attending BITS.  During BITS, my group went to a local food bank and helped sort food.  I particular was given the task to help a group of elderly ladies sort different types of bread into bags that would eventually get shipped to different locations in need of food.  It was fun listening to the elderly ladies chatter endlessly on a multitude of different subjects.  It was certainly a memory I will never forget.

How did Welcome Week help you transition to Butler and life away from home?

Welcome Week helped my transition from life away from home by filling my day from sun up to sun down with numerous activities that kept my mind from thinking about home life and my family.  I was always excited for what we would do the next day and what new people and friends I would meet.  By keeping us on a set schedule, you begin to learn time management which is important for college life.
