Cole Smith

Cole SmithIn your opinion, what are two skills that are useful for an incoming student?

Ability to get dressed and go to class within 5 minutes and the ability to laugh at yourself.

Why did you choose Butler for your college experience?

I was recruited to play basketball. JK LOL! I’m not even that good at basketball but sometimes I like to think I am. Ok, now getting to the point of why I chose Butler. I could go into a long arduous ramble of the wonderful opportunities Butler has to offer along with the friendly environment, small class size, great pharmacy program, amount of possibilities to become involved on campus, and high academic ranking but I definitely will not ramble like that or talk about competing in intramurals, attending concerts on campus, going downtown on weekends, watching movies in Jordan Hall, hanging out with professors, random snowball fights, or enjoying the atmosphere at Starbucks because that would just be mind-numbing. I will, however, talk about the psychology and philosophy of why a person makes a decision and the each of the precedents that must be met before making a decision. JK I won’t talk about that either. To sum it up, Butler’s pharmacy program really drew me in with its automatic advancement and 100% postgraduate job placement.

How did Welcome Week help you transition to Butler and life away from home?

My orientation group was da bomb! (If you are having trouble interpreting this hip, contemporary lingo, the scientific interpretation would be:  “Da bomb” (n.) – someone or something that provides the merriment of gratifying delight. Usage: “Hey man, how was your Welcome Week at Butler?” “Dude, it was da bomb!”) My group became some of the closest friends with whom I could hang out with, share secrets, giggle, complain about hard coursework, eat meals, giggle and complain about hard coursework while eating meals, study, watch movies, look at cute puppy pictures, watch Youtube videos, and just do random spontaneous fun things. Overall, it is nice to become friends with a group of people who can encourage and support one another.
