David KennedyWhat is one challenge you faced during your transition to college life and how did you overcome it?

Learning to become accountable to yourself, there was no mom or dad giving you advice or setting guidelines. Only you can decide whether or not you want to attend class, only you can make new friends and get involved on campus. It took a little growing up, but that learning process is something that will stick with me far beyond my time at Butler.

Why did you choose Butler for your college experience?

I grew up attending Butler basketball games and always looked up to the Butler students. When I began my college search I realized that it was one of the finest schools in the midwest and I wanted to be here, to be involved on this campus. I can attend Hinkle events whenever I want, broad ripple and downtown are just minutes away. There are few experiences that this campus does not offer.

What can an incoming student expect as they look ahead to their first year at Butler?

Expect the unexpected, one can’t imagine what they will go through during their first year. The new experiences of living in a dorm will in some cases be life changing. There will be good times and bad but I believe that if you invest into your college experience you will walk away saying “That was the best year of my life”.
