What was your best memory of your freshman year?
It was definitely seeing Kids These Days, a band from Chicago (played at Coachella), in our Starbucks. It kind of changed my life. I’ve also never moshed in a Starbucks before that.
What is one challenge you faced during your transition to college life and how did you overcome it?
I didn’t realize that I was so empowered and supported by my school to do whatever I would want. I got out of the feeling in my life where I felt obligated to do something because someone else thought it was the only way. You’re given so many opportunities in college. I realized around the 3rd day of instruction with classes that I was creating my own, unique, strange outcome of my own college experience. It was a challenge in high school to think that I was actually able to make educational/life decisions without any help comfortably.
In your opinion, what are two skills that are useful for an incoming student?
1. The ability to listen! 2. The ability to question something because they aren’t afraid to be wrong.
