What is one challenge you faced during your transition to college life and how did you overcome it?
One big challenge I faced was not knowing what to do with my free time, especially during the first couple weeks of school. I overcame it by getting involved, getting to know people in my classes, and getting familiar with places around campus. The best way to meet people is to get involved. It’s okay if you don’t know anyone, put on a smile and get out there and find what you like to do!
If you could give one piece of advice to an incoming student, what would it be?
As a freshman it is really important to remember that everyone is new, and everyone is going through the same transitions you are. You are NOT alone. So keep an open mind when meeting people. Smile! and enjoy the experience.
What is one memory from your own orientation/welcome week experience?
My favorite memory from welcome week (if I had to choose just one) would probably be play fair. It’s just the strangest and silliest activity that you get to experience with all of your new classmates. Once again, if you can keep an open mind, these silly ice breakers can actually be really fun.
