Morgan Blake

Morgan BlakeWhat was your best memory of your freshman year?

Overall, many of my most favorite memories of freshman year come from being on Butler’s rowing team.  More specifically though, being at the Butler-IU and the Butler-Gonzaga men’s basketball games and witnessing those historical wins is truly unforgettable.

Why did you choose Butler for your college experience?

Being a native Hoosier, I knew that I wanted to go college in Indiana.  So, when it came down to choosing between Butler and Purdue for biomedical engineering, it is Butler’s Engineering Dual Degree Program (EDDP) and campus size that sold me.  At Butler, I didn’t feel like I was just a number.  Rather I felt as though I was right at home.

How did Welcome Week help you transition to Butler and life away from home?

Everyone was so welcoming.  The enthusiasm of Butler’s upperclassmen and faculty members was contagious.  In particular, my SOGs and my faculty advisor made it known that they were available for questions and support.  Rather than those just being token words, they continuously supported me throughout the year.  Beyond that, the numerous activities of Welcome Week encouraged interaction with so many different people.  Recognizing that everyone was in the same boat and unfamiliar with their surroundings mitigated the fear of the unknown.
