Thanks to the men of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE), the 1960 Holiday tune, “Dominick the Donkey<\/a>” has become a holiday tradition on the campus of Butler University. Upon the return of Thanksgiving break, speakers atop the TKE chapter house and facing Hampton Dr., broadcast the mind-sticking jingle from one limestone building to the next.<\/p>\n

Little did Richard Allen, Sam Saltzberg, and Lou Monte know that when they brought “Dominick the Donkey” to life in 1960 that a new holiday tradition would one day be established at Butler University starting in 1986 and still going strong today.<\/p>\n

You can listen to “Dominick the Donkey” below, repeatedly, but before you do, there’s important music news to cover. It’s been a good music month on he college scene, especially at Butler.<\/p>\n

Walk the Moon on My Level<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

The boys from Walk the Moon<\/a> stopped through Butler and put on a great show in the Reilly Room of Atherton Union. If you missed it, then get online and get tickets<\/a> to see them while on the road with Young the Giant<\/a>this winter.<\/p>\n

Also, last week The Black Keys<\/a> released “El Camino,” which is an album chocked full of quintessential American rock. It’s darn near an anthem, definitely in my running for album of the year and perhaps best described as “Brothers” on steroids. Pick it up if you haven’t done so already. My favorites besides their opening single, “Lonely Boy,” are “Dead and Gone,” “Gold on the Ceiling,” and “Hell of a Season.” Heck, the whole album is killer and makes a great stocking stuffer.<\/p>\n
