{"id":1418,"date":"2005-08-16T09:41:00","date_gmt":"2005-08-16T09:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/08\/the-state-of-the-eric-database-fall-2005\/"},"modified":"2005-08-16T09:41:00","modified_gmt":"2005-08-16T09:41:00","slug":"the-state-of-the-eric-database-fall-2005","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/08\/the-state-of-the-eric-database-fall-2005\/","title":{"rendered":"The State of the ERIC Database, Fall 2005"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ERIC database overhaul is still an<br \/>\nincomplete project as the fall semester begins.&nbsp; In recent weeks,<br \/>\nthey have begun to add newer material (2004) to the ERIC site, but<br \/>\nuntil Ebsco signs an agreement with ERIC, no articles or documents<br \/>\nnewer than 2003 will show up in Ebsco ERIC.&nbsp; A quick check of the<br \/>\njournals currently indexed by ERIC shows that only a small percentage<br \/>\nof the publishers of titles previously indexed by ERIC have reached an<br \/>\nagreement with ERIC to allow indexing of their recent issues.&nbsp; For<br \/>\nnow, advise everyone to make sure that they search Professional<br \/>\nDevelopment Collection as well as ERIC to maximize the number of<br \/>\ncurrent journal articles found on education topics.&nbsp; The good news<br \/>\nis that eventually, there should be much more full text&nbsp; available<br \/>\nin ERIC.&nbsp; When the contractor finally finishes adding the<br \/>\nbackfile, content should be within a month of current.
