{"id":1424,"date":"2005-08-10T05:03:00","date_gmt":"2005-08-10T05:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/08\/reference-books-relocated\/"},"modified":"2005-08-10T05:03:00","modified_gmt":"2005-08-10T05:03:00","slug":"reference-books-relocated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/08\/reference-books-relocated\/","title":{"rendered":"Reference Books Relocated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"3\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">Librarians:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nAt the behest of Lewis, the Reference Dept. has recently conducted some<br \/>\nintensive collection development&#8211;including location transfers and a<br \/>\nfew cancellations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nRelated to this is Scott&#8217;s usage study of all reference books. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nThe eventual goal for these endeavors is to create a collection of<br \/>\nessential reference titles, thus freeing up shelf space.&nbsp; This, in<br \/>\nturn, may lead to more overall space which will allow us to add<br \/>\nadditional workstations and study space. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nSo, we please ask that you DO NOT re-shelve any reference books. Someone in Reference will do this after having scanned them<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">into the tracking database.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nIn addition,&nbsp; many titles are now in Technical Services waiting to<br \/>\nbe processed. However, there are other projects ahead of ours so it may<br \/>\nbe a month or so before Technical Services is able to process these changes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nIn the meantime, if you are looking for a reference book and it&#8217;s not<br \/>\non the shelf, there&#8217;s a good chance it&#8217;s on a cart in Technical<br \/>\nServices (despite what the catalog says). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">So, you may have to call upstairs or physically walk up there<br \/>\nand check for yourself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\nIf you have any questions please ask someone in Reference. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\"><br \/>\n-B<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Librarians: At the behest of Lewis, the Reference Dept. has recently conducted some intensive collection development&#8211;including location transfers and a few cancellations.
