{"id":1440,"date":"2005-09-29T18:46:00","date_gmt":"2005-09-29T18:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/09\/mg-101-individual-research-project\/"},"modified":"2005-09-29T18:46:00","modified_gmt":"2005-09-29T18:46:00","slug":"mg-101-individual-research-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.butler.edu\/dawgblog\/2005\/09\/mg-101-individual-research-project\/","title":{"rendered":"MG 101 Individual Research Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\">Reference Librarians &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Four sections of MG 101 will be working on their <a href=\"\/library\/research\/srg\/business\/APAWebsite\/Library\/CRITIC%20Individual%20Assignment%20FINAL.doc\">Individual Research Project<\/a> during the next two weeks. <\/p>\n<p>They are instructed to forumulate two research questions which are<br \/>\nrelated to investigating the following areas of the business<br \/>\nenvironment<\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><span><span><\/span><\/span><b>Economic Environment:<\/b> Describe the<br \/>\nprevailing and anticipated economic conditions that will impact the business. <\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><span><span><\/span><\/span><b>Industry\/Competitive<br \/>\nEnvironment<i>:<\/i><\/b> Describe broad industry trends.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Describe the nature of the competition in the<br \/>\nindustry.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Specifically identify key<br \/>\ncompetitors, their strengths and weaknesses; and, the related threats and<br \/>\nopportunities. <\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><span><span><\/span><\/span><b>Market\/Customer<br \/>\nAnalysis:<\/b> Describe the demographic and lifestyle trends that will<br \/>\nimpact demand for your product or service. <\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><span><span><\/span><\/span><b>Global<br \/>\nEnvironment:<\/b> Describe any prevailing global conditions that relate to<br \/>\nthe business such as foreign markets where the business may sell the product in<br \/>\nthe future or obtain resources such as supplies. <\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><\/p>\n<p>After having created their questions they need to find two relevent<br \/>\nbusiness sources that may help them answer these questions.&nbsp;<br \/>\nSources may include magazine and scholarly articles, industry reports,<br \/>\netc. To help with database selection I&#8217;ve matched the business<br \/>\ndatabases to the various environments and noted this in the <a href=\"\/library\/research\/db\/about\/bussource.html\">abouts<\/a>.<br \/>\nStudents were taught to match the abouts to the respective business<br \/>\nenvironment that they are researching.
