A Juried Art Contest and Exhibit<\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/h3>\n<p>The 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee of Butler\u2019s Irwin Library seeks entries for a juried art contest and exhibit. Selected art works will be on exhibit in Irwin Library from Jan. 15 through approximately March 15, 2014.<\/p>\n<p><b>Exhibit theme:<\/b><b> <\/b>Works relating to Irwin Library, experiences in the Irwin Library, or relating to library resources (including books, computers, magazines, etc.) or using such materials to create a work of art. For example, using discarded books to create a piece of furniture.<\/p>\n<p><b>Medium: <\/b>Two- and three-dimensional art, including altered books. Painting, drawing, and sculpture will be accepted. (Please no photography, as our previous contest was for photos only!)<\/p>\n<p><b>Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top student entries<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><b>1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0 place \u2013 <\/b>$100<\/p>\n<p><b>2<sup>nd<\/sup> place \u2013 <\/b>$50<\/p>\n<p><b>3<sup>rd<\/sup> place \u2013 <\/b>$25<\/p>\n<p><b>Judge\u2019s choice award<\/b> \u2013 $50<\/p>\n<p><b>Participation <\/b>in the exhibit is open to <strong>all current students, staff, and faculty<\/strong> of Butler University.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only student entries will be considered for cash prizes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Number of submissions per entrant:<\/b> No more than<strong> three<\/strong> entries per participant.<\/p>\n<p><b>Fees:<\/b>\u00a0 None.<\/p>\n<p><b>Jurors:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sara Method (Associate Faculty, Herron School of Art and Design),<br \/>\nMark Ruschman (Chief Fine Arts Curator, Indiana State Museum),<br \/>\nStephanie Robertson (Program Chair, Fine Arts, IVY Tech Community College).<\/p>\n<p><b>Exhibition location: <\/b>Irwin Library, Main Floor.<\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements:\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All submissions must be original and created within the last two years (i.e., on or after September 1, 2011).<\/li>\n<li>Works may be two- or three-dimensional in format. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 18\u201d X 24\u201d in size. Three-dimensional works should fit within a space of four square feet.<\/li>\n<li>Two-dimensional submissions must be mounted and\/or framed and ready to hang.<\/li>\n<li>Students must present their own work for consideration.<\/li>\n<li>Submitted <b>works should be accompanied by a label <\/b>containing the <b>artist\u2019s name<\/b>, <b>title of the work<\/b>, <b>medium<\/b>, and <b>date work was completed<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>A <b>signed release form must accompany each submitted work<\/b>. Please contact Sheri Stormes (see below) to request a form.
