What this means is Butler students, faculty, and staff can get books and articles sent to the Butler campus much quicker. <br \/><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><b>Obtaining an ILLIAD Account.<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">The home library should be selected with care<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">.&nbsp;<br \/>\nSelection of home library should be determined by <i>field of study<\/i>, not<br \/>\nthe class hosting the instruction session.&nbsp; A change to home library after<br \/>\nan ILLIAD account is set is not encouraged.&nbsp; Tracking requests after<br \/>\nchanges to home library is very difficult.&nbsp; Rule of thumb: Science majors should generally select the Science Library and Liberal arts should&nbsp; select Irwin Library.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">When creating a User Profile to obtain an ILLIAD account, you <b>MUST<\/b> use your <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">Butler<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"> email<br \/>\naddress.&nbsp; No other email accounts (Yahoo, Hotmail) will be recognized.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><b>Filing an ILL Request.\n<p><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">File ILL requests directly from an electronic database (World Cat,<br \/>\nEBSCO, etc.) whenever possible.&nbsp; This limits mistakes made in entering<br \/>\ninformation into the request.&nbsp; Use the SFX<b> Find It!<\/b> button whenever<br \/>\navailable.<\/p>\n<p> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><b>C<\/b><\/span><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">heck the <\/span><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/hickory.palni.edu:4505\/F\/?func=file&amp;file_name=basic&amp;local_base=PLNBUP\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">Butler<\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"> <\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">Library<\/span><\/b><\/a><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hickory.palni.edu:4505\/F\/?func=file&amp;file_name=basic&amp;local_base=PLNBUP\"> Catalog<\/a><br \/>\nand journal holdings in the <a href=\"http:\/\/sfx.palni.edu:9003\/sfx_bu\/cgi\/core\/citation-linker.cgi\">Citation Linker<\/a> before filing any ILL requests<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">.&nbsp;<br \/>\nDatabases are not always accurate in reflecting our holdings.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">Be discriminating when it comes to requesting<br \/>\nitems through ILL.&nbsp; Even though students, graduate students, staff and<br \/>\nfaculty are not charged for the Interlibrary Loan Service, it can be very<br \/>\ncostly.&nbsp; From the postage to send material to and from BU to the cost to paying<br \/>\ncopyright fees, a book or article may be as much as $30-$50.&nbsp; When someone<br \/>\norders material and then never picks it up, or orders needlessly, it<br \/>\njeopardizes the standard of keeping this service free to all users.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">Please limit the number of dissertations you request.&nbsp; Often there is only one copy available and most libraries will not loan them.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><b>Renewing ILL Requests.<br \/><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\"><br \/><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia\">ILL materials can be renewed through your Interlibrary Loan Account. To log-on click on the <a HREF=\"\/library\/?pg=201\">ILLIAD link<\/a>.
